Cengnge' Beraraia - Folktale from Mandar

Once upon a time there lived a family and a beautiful daughter named Beraraia. Beraraia's parent's were a farmer, her father was tall and fat. But her mother was slim and simple woman. They were so poor. But unfortunately, her parents made Beraraia lived like in a prison and she could not made a friend.

One day her parents went to work. She stayed a home alone. Beraraia suddenly felt very thirsty. Unfortunatelly there wasn't water in her house. Then, she looked for water while holding her thirsty, and she said "I need water, I need Water, I need Water!" She saw a bottle of coconut oil and then she drank it down.

Miracle took place, suddenly her stomach was getting big. And from her stomach, born a handsome and cute little baby. The baby smiled at her. Beraraia was very happy because she has never had one friend. Beraraia shouted loudly "Thanks God! Now I have a playmate"

In the afternoon, her parents came home. Her father asked to her "Where is the oil? Why there is not oil here?" he said angrily. Beraraia replied "I'm very thirsty but not water here. I am afraid to take the water down because you forbade me down from the house"

Her father was very angry and furious "Anyhow you must restore the oil". Her mother was defending "No, dear! Let me make the oil again later" she said softly. "No, I want the oild back!"

Beraraia then went into her bedroom and hugged her son, cried a river slept while hugging her son, "Oh my son, my little baby". The next  day her her parents went to work, Beraraia at home thinking hard, and she said "Oh my Son! How can I get the oil back ?". And finally she took a frying pan and put her son into it.

Her son laughed and kicking because he thought his mother was playing with him and the pan wasn't hot yet. Little by little while the  pan started hot, the baby's foot melted and he started crying as if asked for help to his mother. Beraraia said with tears in her eyes, "Oh my dear, please restore the oil! You originally came from the oil"

The foot of her son became oil. Little by little Beraraia kept crying while stirring her son. After her son become oil, she ran out from the house cried a river and scream loudly, "Oh my son", because she was unable to see her son has now become oil.

When Beraraia was crying, the birds came around her body. The bird said "Hi Beraraia, Don't cry, What's going on?" I
"I can't stand it anymore! I lose my playmate"
"Don't worry! Take our feathers and stick it to your body".

Beraraia then took the feathers and step by step, Beraraia change into bird started from her head and the  feathers had become wings. The bird taught Beraraia to fly and finally, she could fly.

Beraraia flew to place where her parent's worked and she sang Cengnge' Beraraia Nobodies in the house. She repeated three times until her parents looked up.

Beraraia then flew to Java. She was exhauted and dropped by to take a bath in a lake. She took off her wings so she returned to be a human. The prince saw her and he interested to her beauty and felt in love. The prince finally married her and Beraraia now became a Queen in a kingdom and had a husband who was really loved and cared of her.

At the same time, Beraraia's father was seriously ill because he was so longing to his daughter, he was really regret. He Grived until he passed away.
The moral value that we can get from the story is as parents we should not be too hard to treat our children and say something mean to them.
